5 Strange Tricks To P-U-L-L People's Eyeballs Into Your Sales Letter

by Kale McClelland

Grabbing people's attention and getting them to read your marketing material is becoming ever so challenging. But techniques and tricks are becoming ever so clever.

You need an effective, attention-grabbing headline to get someone's attention and hold it. Without it, your sales letter is completely useless. The same is true of e-mail subject lines, because they convince people to open them.

There are some hypnotic 'text tricks' you can use to really make your headlines, titles, and subject lines extra appealing. However, I must warn you that some of these tricks are edgy and not for the faint of heart!

And we've used these ourselves, so they work.

Here are 5 very unusual tricks you can use right away to stop anyone in their tracks (if you DARE to use them):

1. Use a fill-in-the-blank headline. For example 'Write At The Speed Of _____!' Is there a quicker way to generate curiosity than having a blank in your headline? We've yet to discover one.

2. Write your headline backwards. '!emoH nwO ruoY ni ot tnaW uoY sA yenoM hcuM sA ekaM' Many people will want to sit there and figure out what you're saying, especially if they're not expecting it.

3. Write two appealing words and one that is totally unrelated. 'Money! Freedom! Cows!' There's something about humor that often combines two or three completely irrelevant ideas or subjects.

4. Emphasize specific words with all capital letters, underlines, or dashes. Here's a hint. Look at headline of this article again. You can make certain keywords really stand out in your headline or title that subconsciously trigger a favorable response from your readers.

5. Censor out one or two words. 'Write at the xxxxx Of Interrupted Thought!' This is similar to having a blank in the headline, but using characters or a 'black box' to block out a word from being seen. Again, your readers can't help but think, 'What are you hiding?'

Once you use these tricks, make sure you explain the title or headline in your opening. Don't be seen as unprofessional. For example, you could start your opening paragraph by saying, "I see my headline got your attention." Then go on and explain yourself so the readers understand.

There are tons of other techniques you can come up with on your own, and these are just a few of the 11 tricks listed in the 'Hypnotic Traffic Tools' bonus report. You can also use these ideas sparingly throughout the body of your content, and not just in your headlines or subject lines.

Go on and give these a try, and see how much fun they are!
