Deadbolt Lock - More Efficient And Stronger

by Rex Freiberger

If home-security is your greatest concern, then this article would definitely please you. Modern technology has given us hundreds of hi-tech home-security systems, which apart from being useful are highly expensive! Now, if you want to spend thousands of dollars into installing an advanced state-of-art home security system, then you would not have problems finding expensive security systems.

However, if you want to work the 'economical' way, then perhaps this article will serve the purpose. There are innumerable web sites which deal in home-security systems. If you go on browsing through even a few web sites, you would come cross hundreds of hi-tech gadgets meant for home-security. Of those hundreds of gadgets, a deadbolt lock would be the most economical and efficient.

Deadbolts are comparatively more efficient and stronger than those conventional door locks. If you talk about the conventional door locks, it would be important to know that such door locks break easily and are not that strong to protect your home from being burglarized. This is where a simple deadbolt lock would help you.

What makes a door deadbolt work so well? A deadbolt is made of one or more cylinders hooked to a latch. The lock cannot be opened unless the right numbers are keyed into the keypad or the correct key is used. Because of this feature, it's very difficult to open a door with an engaged deadbolt on it by using pressure and force.

There are many different types of dead-bolts available today. There are different deadbolts for front doors and different dead-bolts for back-doors. Some deadbolts have only one cylinder while some others have two or more cylinders. For normal doors, a single-cylinder deadbolt lock would serve the need.

There are many specialized security systems for your homes now a days. Yes they may give you the security your looking for, but you will spend thousands to buy them, when all you really need is a deadbolt lock. A high quality deadbolt lock will keep a burglar out of your home. Research has proven that ten or more people together can't break a door deadbolt by using force.

Locked doors do not necessarily result in adequate security. In fact, steel locks and more expensive locks are less secure than cheaply made locks. Because cheap locks are less accurately machined, they offer more security against bumping. This security glitch in traditional tumbler locks was discovered in the 1970s, when Danish locksmiths discovered that certain keys could "bump" open conventional locks. For this reason, premium deadbolt door lockss were developed that provide protection against these unconventional keys. Deadbolt door lock security can be achieved with a special security device for only a few dollars through most trained locksmiths.
